There is a miata at ABE's...it has lowering springs on Tokico Shocks...didn't check to see if it was adjustable. It is a 94+ so it has the larger rear brakes intact. It has the full 1.8L untouched along with the drivetrain...I want the drivetrain (full intentions of buying in a few weeks). The car is an Automatic :x Will the driveshaft work on my car? JW. They wat $400 for the rear, axels, and driveshaft. They want like 70 for each corner (shock and spring). It also has silver face guages, a perfect condition dash, center console, and guage hood. Steering wheel isn't that bad, passenger seat looks brand new, drivers side is a little worn on the bolster. the top didn't look that bad but the rear window was shot.Has driver and passenger mirrors...front end was pretty beat up but not the worst. They also have dual exhaust from it, they cut it off befor the cat. They also have all the trim pieces for the trunk (or almost all of them) and all supporting pieces under the hood looked good (but no hood). I wana trade someone my TSI's for the stock signal's I think...maybe test the waters with somebody's stock front markers at test and tune? Happy pickins!

I checked out Abe's this afternoon and finally got all the little stock replacement parts I wanted for my '91 8)
I recently cannibalized the Miata at the ABC junkyard and the one at the guy's house in Kailua too.
In all, only had to spend a grand total of sixteen bucks ($16) to fix all the factory stock nitty gritty things that always bugged me about my car. Heck, ...even the Mazdaspeed support program can't beat that price (especially since all the stuff I got isn't race related) And, the parts I got cleaned up and all look 'new'...
The NA at Abe's looked like '94-97 1.8L. It actually had an old Miata Club of Hawaii sticker in the trunk from a piece that broke off by the license plate. It had a really bad, beat up, dented white body with aged replacement painted red gas tank lid and replacement red painted OEM mirrors. Only had 104,000 miles on it. It has an aftermarket metal radiator. But the engine compartment aluminum bits looked aged/corroded and the brake fluid resevoir blackened indicating possible maintenance neglect. Wheels are gone so the car is on the ground resting on the brake discs... Anyone know who owned it? :|
I saw hints of several business cards indicating different 'engineering consultant companies' in the trunk and dash. Contractor maybe?
The previous owner looked like he was a regular customer of the Moss Catalog because like Mr. astroyboy said, the car had those expensive ~$100 white dial faces (still look new), adjustable Tokico shocks (may look used but should be fine), door sill protectors, ashtray cupholder upgrade, and what looks to be a stock looking aftermarket interior light kit on the center console's calf area. Good stuff still in that car considering, say, a factory instrument hood which is easily cracked or damaged retails new for $110 bucks. The instrument hood in that car still looks new regardless of the condition of the rest of the car. I didn't check but pretty certain Mr. kfunk could probably get his headlights from it for his BMW.
I didn't want all that fancy stuff... and only had to buy the trunk battery mounting hardware (mine was tie wrapped down).
Maybe it's just me, but junkyards are fun. 8)

Oh, man, I need the battery restraints! But the battery stuff is different on a '90-'93 right? One nice body ding from elastic straps is one too many! Anybody know a good non-OEM fix that completely locates the battery?

Shoot! When you said aftermarket radiator I was thinking Koyo! The car sitll has the metal top bracket for the battery in the trunk I saw, just no metal thredded rod to latch it down with...there are some in their yard tho. I found one laying on the ground begging for me to get it, so I did. Had to grind it down alot but it works. Finally a battery that won't destroy my fender!

Now, who the heck is "Koyo"??? :|
Yup... I took that "J"hook with the big plastic washer and wing nut. :P What I don't understand is WHY IS EVERYONE LOSING THEM :?:
Like, how can the previous owner lose something that can't be used anywhere else. Is the Fairygodmother stealing battery hold down hardware on purpose, or are the folks at garages stealing them to get rich???? WTF... the previous owner tie wrapping that sucker down. If you're going to lose a fastener, why the bigas one that size of a telephone? Just a thought folks... What's going on in this world. (One race I actually thought there was something wrong with my suspension / shock mounting loose, whatever before I realized that it was battery loose banging around! Thoughts of stretched alignment bolts...) This has got to be some kind of joke. This is much worse than a missing sock.

Is the bolt reeeally long with a big black washer and a wing nut on top? If so I happened to find one laying on the ground by the jetta I was scoring a few parts from. Maybe that is where they are all going...Abe's wrecking yard. Who woulda thought? I have a spare U bolt but it was not long enough for my tall battery, may work for somebody else tho.

More on the Abe's white Miata. It is a 91, built in late 90. It has the passenger airbag dash, but the air bag is gone. The steering wheel and it's airbag seem intact. I got the instrument pannel hood. And then I find that my '90 non-pass. airbag dash takes a different hood! So, anybody that has a good single air bag (steering wheel only) instrument panel hood, and wants to trade for a later hood for a two airbag car part (Imaculate, all the plastic and fastener in the front intact!), let's make a deal! The car had most of a '94 interior installed, so maybe the dash stuff is for the 1.8 cars, as I don't think the second airbag went in as early as '91.
I asked, but their computer was shut down for the day, so I don't know what they are asking for the motor. The top Is good, but needs a new rear window. The driving lights are gone, but the control switch and wiring are still in the interior, if anybody knows what they are doing making up their own lighting harness from the parts. Trunk lid is gone, but all the front sheet metal including the hood looked straight to me. I forgot to bring out the better cup holder for the center panel. What a maroon. I'd have gotten a few more bits but they closed and chased me out.

So why did he leave it for so long and get it towed? It's the wrong time and place for Seasonal Affective Disorder!?

One thing I noticed last time I looked at it is the seats are the ones with speakers in the headrests. I don't think anybody else has noticed yet...and they are like brand spankin new.
