There is a '89 (mfg.) Miata in ABC salvage yard. Blue. No real crash damage I saw, some body scrapes, like the pass. door. Front 'bumper' missing. Possible front crash frame damage, I couldn't tell. Top Was servicable but someone cut under the rear window. Could be patched? Driver's side front suspension gone, driver's door window lift mech. gone. No instrument panel. Decent seats. Air bag steering wheel, w/V. small 'cancer' along the top, better than a lot of '90s. Good (looking) radiator, seemingly intact motor, transmission, diff. Good hood/headlights, broken windshield. Trunk rear lip bent, but fixable. I'll be trying to afford whatever he wants for the flower petal wheels (3) but attitude isn't what it was. Previously the ECU from the red Miata they had was priced at $30, but we couldn't find it in the pile by the office.
I took out the ECU, (frozen/rusted lower bolts from water in the footwell) absolutely NO fun, then they wanted $100 for the part. Entirely too much money. So it's back to haunting eBay for a reasonable price B61P ECU. Anybody on Oahu holding one? '90, standard shift.
Anyone going into the dash, please don't damage the HVAC. I think I need some or all of the mixer box/control for my white '90. I have to tear into it and see what is wrong. Any hints on non-destructive removal of the control panel for the HVAC? Whole dash have to come out? Yikes!
